About
Nigel Forster
Luthier. Maker of guitars, bouzoukis & mandolins since 1988.
Nigel apprenticed to Stefan Sobell in Northumberland from 1988 to 1990, and worked for him from 1992 to 2003. He’s been running his own workshop since 2005.
Today, Nigel builds guitars, bouzoukis and mandolins from the Gold Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia.
The Luthier Shop started as a corner of Nigel’s main site. It’s grown enough to need its own space.
Tonewoods, tools, courses, and ebooks — all from the bench of someone who’s been doing this for a living for over thirty-five years.
Got an idea?
If you have an idea for something you’d like to see in the shop, send it through. The best ideas for what to make next have always come from other luthiers.
